A 7-Month Journey Through Grenada with a Peek at Future Adventures!

In just two days, we’re leaving Grenada, a place that has felt like home since April 2, 2014. We’ve had the chance to settle in, unpack our bags, and hang up our clothes. We made fantastic friends and cared for sweet Spare Dog, who showered us with love in return.

Grenada offered countless activities, and even after seven months, we couldn’t explore everything. We truly aren’t ready to leave and are already thinking about coming back (we did return two more times!).

We spent time on Grenada’s beautiful beaches, relaxed at beach bars, enjoyed picnics in secluded spots, and marveled at the breathtaking sunsets from our favorite places.

Spare Dog joined us on many adventures, loving the car rides and new sights. We hiked through muddy trails to reach chilly waterfalls, wandered along rocky points with stunning views, and trekked through thick jungles to discover secret coves.

We visited historic plantations, chocolate factories, rum distilleries, and spice gardens. We snorkeled in the deep blue sea, sailed along the island’s coast, and went scuba diving to explore sunken ships.

We placed bets at hermit crab races, participated in our first hash event, and enjoyed music from a barge at a dinghy concert. We savored delicious meals at restaurants with amazing views and drank local beers like Carib and Stag.

We frequently visited the colorful capital city of St. George’s to shop, dine, and explore historical sites. Roseanne’s fabulous BBQ and Ronda’s ice cream became weekly treats for us. We danced and celebrated at our first Carnival, experiencing awe and shock.

Beach cook-outs, double dates, and fun-filled days with wonderful people were common activities. We sampled fresh tropical fruits from the trees on our property, tried “oil-down” for the first time, and snacked on rotis. We also cycled around the south of Grenada and went deep-sea fishing.

We drove all around the island, soaking in the beauty of this windy, mountainous country. As if that wasn’t enough, we celebrated my 30th birthday with a three-week trip to the neighboring Grenadine islands, hopping from Grenada to Carriacou, Union, Tobago Cays, Palm Island, Mayreau, and Bequia.

Grenada has left us with so many unforgettable memories. It is our first successful stint as digital nomads, the place of our initial overseas pet-sitting job, and a source of immense joy, relaxation, and peace for seven fantastic months. We are grateful for the experiences we’ve had and the amazing people, including Spare Dog, that we’ve met.

Next, we’ll fly from Grenada to Puerto Vallarta and take a local bus to San Pancho, a small surfing town recommended by our friends Dan and Casey. With a population of around 2,000, San Pancho seems like the perfect spot for us to rent an apartment for a while.

After 4.5 years of traveling, our families are finally coming to visit us abroad. My dad visited us in Grenada in August, and during our stay in San Pancho, four of Nick’s family members and my mom will also come to visit.

We’re planning to stay in San Pancho for at least two months. We hope to learn Spanish and maintain our happy, stress-free lifestyle. After that, who knows where we’ll go—maybe another part of Mexico, or perhaps we’ll venture further into Central and South America. And who knows, we might even return to Grenada for a bit.

Thank you all for following our journey in Grenada. Stay tuned to see what adventures await us next!
