During our 8-day stay on the beautiful Caye Caulker in Belize, we had a wonderful time at De Real Macaw Guest House, a charming place owned by Belizean and American hosts and located right near the water.
The guest house is vibrant and colorful, with clean and spacious rooms. One of the best things about staying here is the wide variety of rooms available. Whether you’re a solo traveler on a budget or a family looking for a beachfront apartment, De Real Macaw has you covered.
We stayed in one of the Sea View Rooms, which was spacious, breezy, and comfortable. The room had air conditioning and was a great deal at just over $50 USD compared to other options on the island.
Aside from the sea view rooms, De Real Macaw offers budget rooms starting at $25, two-bedroom condos for $130 a night, and a two-bedroom beachfront home for $120. There are plenty of options to suit different needs and budgets.
De Real Macaw is just steps from the water along the main street of Caye Caulker, within a short walk to The Split, and close to the island’s best restaurants, bars, and the water taxi and ferry terminal. The location is unbeatable.
With palm trees gently swaying overhead, a cool and comfortable central garden, sea views, and plenty of hammocks, the vibe here is perfectly laid-back, capturing the island’s relaxed atmosphere. Whether you’re exploring the island or just relaxing in a hammock, remember to follow Caye Caulker’s motto: “Go Slow.”
The staff at De Real Macaw are kind and professional. The cleaning team keeps the place spotless, and you’ll always be greeted with a smile. The owner, Rob, is attentive and ready to help with anything you need during your stay.
