Journeying from Koh Phangan to Kuala Lumpur: An Adventure Awaits

After exploring all the exciting activities in Koh Phangan, it was time to move on. Our journey from Koh Phangan in Thailand to Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia was quite long. We thought it would be interesting for you to see what a typical travel day looks like for us at Goats On The Road, so we made a video of it.

We spent four days in Kuala Lumpur, one of our favorite cities, shopping, eating, and strolling through markets. We love coming back here and always have a fantastic time.

To start our trip, we took the monorail from the city center to the bus station, and then caught a bus to the airport. Our flight out of Kuala Lumpur was with Air Asia, departing at 5:30am. Since we needed to be at the airport three hours before the flight, we decided to sleep at the airport.

Why are these flights always on promotion? Because no one wants to buy tickets for flights that leave at such inconvenient times! We arrived at the airport, set up a makeshift bed on the floor, and tried to get some sleep around midnight.

At 12:30am, an announcement informed us that the airport was going to be sprayed with a “toxic spray,” and everyone had to leave. Seriously? We had to sit outside, got no sleep, and were allowed back in at 3:30am—hoping three hours was enough for the toxins to clear. Just in time for check-in.

After going through security, we managed to get about a half-hour of sleep before boarding. The flight itself was fine, and we slept a little more. Four hours later, we arrived at Clark Airport, which is outside of Manila, where we wanted to go. So, we had to take a one-hour bus ride to reach our final destination—another downside of those promotional flights!
