During our 4-day press trip with Riviera Maya Tourism, we stayed at the beautiful Hacienda Tres Rios Resort near Playa del Carmen, Mexico. Covering 326 acres, this place feels more like a nature park than a resort.

As we drove up the long, jungle-lined driveway, the sounds of birds, insects, and reptiles reminded us that we were truly in nature. Despite our late-night arrival, the friendly and efficient staff welcomed us warmly in the impressive lobby, promptly checking us in and escorting us to our room. Having traveled extensively over the past five years, we’ve seen some amazing places, but this suite took our breath away.

Each of the 273 suites is tastefully decorated with local materials and artwork. Our Mangrove Junior Suite, at 645 square feet, was spacious and incredibly comfortable. The king-sized bed was one of the coziest we’ve ever slept in, and we had a fantastic first night’s sleep.

The resort’s rooms blend modern style with local flair seamlessly. The Mexican marble floors shine and blend perfectly with traditional mahogany furniture and granite countertops. Our room boasted a stunning view of the mangrove forest and pool below, along with daily appetizers and refreshments delivered to our door. The marble rain shower, with its excellent water pressure, was our favorite part, and the bathroom was larger than some hotel rooms we’ve stayed in before.

Our stay was on the Tres Rios Endless Luxury plan, which included access to all the resort’s restaurants, buffets, and bars. Every morning, we enjoyed a diverse breakfast buffet featuring dishes like Mexican chilaquiles, Spanish-style omelets, fruit platters, and American sausage and eggs. Lunchtimes were spent at the poolside bar or pizza restaurant, both offering perfectly mixed Margaritas. For dinner, we had our pick of seven different lounges, grills, bars, and restaurants. Our favorite was the Asian restaurant with its simple but satisfying fusion dishes, especially the sushi rolls.

Hacienda Tres Rios also offered us a full day of adventures with their PR reps, Paola and Nadia. Our day was packed with fun activities, starting with a Segway tour—our favorite! Riding the two-wheeled electric vehicles around the property, through the jungle and mangroves, and into the plant nursery was a blast. Next was the Sense Adventure Tour, a relaxing combination of meditation and sensory experiences while being led blindfolded through the jungle. We also enjoyed a snorkel tour through one of the estate’s cenotes, calmly floating down the river among mangrove roots and fish.

The culinary highlight of our trip was a seven-course meal at the Chef’s Table in the Hacienda kitchen. The meal, featuring dishes like mixed raspberry vinaigrette salad, succulent salmon, and chocolate tiramisu, was a true feast for the senses.

What truly set Hacienda Tres Rios apart for us was its incredible 326-acre nature park, split by three slow-flowing rivers. The beachfront was stunning with soft white sand and aquamarine waters, and the resort’s three pools were large, clean, and well-maintained.

The staff at Hacienda Tres Rios were genuinely friendly and attentive, providing top-notch service expected at a 5-star resort. The charismatic hotel manager, Sammy, stood out for his personal touch, seemingly knowing every guest by name.

Our stay at Hacienda Tres Rios was excellent. They refer to their meal plan as “Endless Luxury,” and it goes beyond just food and drink. Guests are treated like honored friends by the gracious staff, ensuring a truly luxurious experience. We were thrilled to be invited to stay at this beautiful resort and hope to return for another amazing vacation someday.

We loved our time at Hacienda Tres Rios and believe you will too!
