Recently, we had the pleasure of being invited by Mount Cinnamon Grenada to experience their award-winning boutique resort for a couple of nights. Even though we live on the island, it was a wonderful opportunity for a “staycation” to celebrate my birthday at one of Grenada’s top properties.
Since arriving in Grenada in 2014, we’ve always been curious about the rooms at Mount Cinnamon. Nestled on a hill behind the beautiful Grand Anse Beach, the hacienda-style villas and suites offer breathtaking views of the Caribbean Sea. Conveniently located yet secluded enough to enjoy the peace and quiet, this resort was the perfect spot for a short getaway.
If you’re considering a luxury stay in Grenada, this article is for you. Here, I’ll detail every aspect of our stay so you can decide if Mount Cinnamon is right for you.
Upon arrival, we were warmly greeted by name, which immediately made us feel welcome – a pleasant surprise as Dariece’s name is often mispronounced. This personalized approach isn’t just for special guests; the staff prepares by learning the names of all incoming guests through morning meetings.
After checking in and leaving our luggage at the front desk, we were taken to the bar next to the pool and restaurant, where we enjoyed a homemade rum punch from Antonio, probably the best we’ve had on the island. It set the tone for a relaxed and enjoyable stay.
Our suite, one of the newly built Cinnamon Suites, was even more impressive than expected. The room boasted panoramic views of the Caribbean Sea, the city of St. George’s, and lush hills, with beautiful fire-red flowers adding a welcoming touch. Modern and stylish, the suite had a beach house vibe, featuring a comfortable king-sized bed, a large bathroom, and a sitting area with thoughtful, colorful decorations.
Exploring the rest of the hotel, we toured the Luxury Villas and Hacienda Suites, which also offer stunning views and are perfect for longer stays or groups. Mount Cinnamon’s prime location connects the island’s best beaches and is within walking distance of top restaurants and the largest grocery store, IGA. If you’re staying in a villa with a kitchen, the convenience of a nearby grocery store is a huge plus.
Mount Cinnamon stands out not just for its beauty, but also for its exceptional hospitality. The staff, from receptionists to bartenders and housekeepers, made our stay memorable by treating us like family and always being friendly and attentive.
Dining at Mount Cinnamon is a delight. We especially loved the Savvy Beach Cabana Restaurant for its relaxed atmosphere and beachfront location. The food was delicious, with standout dishes like the grilled catch of the day and lobster linguine. Don’t miss their Friday BBQ nights with live music and s’mores by the bonfire. Another dining option is Savvy’s restaurant, located by the pool with amazing views, where we enjoyed a daily buffet and à la carte breakfast included in our room rate.
There’s no shortage of activities at Mount Cinnamon, with various amenities included in the room rate. Guests can enjoy the pool, water sports, beach volleyball, tennis, a fitness center, and yoga classes. We particularly enjoyed kayaking along the coast and trying shuffleboard for the first time.
For extra relaxation, spa treatments are available in the air-conditioned rooms or beachside cabanas. The attached Dive Grenada shop offers memorable diving experiences, and we highly recommend their services for exploring Grenada’s underwater beauty.
Mount Cinnamon also collaborates with Savvy Sailing Charter and Tours, offering day trips, sunset sails, and multi-day adventures. These experiences on traditional Caribbean sloops are authentic and enjoyable.
Overall, our stay at Mount Cinnamon was overwhelmingly positive. The location, hospitality, and amenities create a perfect setting for a romantic and relaxing getaway. If you plan to visit Grenada, we highly recommend considering Mount Cinnamon for your stay and checking out our Grenada section for more insights into this beautiful Caribbean paradise.
